Brief Overall Description of the Dataset:

Every month SentriLock, LLC. provides NAR Research with data on the number of properties shown by a REALTOR®. Lockboxes made by SentriLock, LLC. are used in roughly a third of home showings across the nation.” NAR states this measure is a strong leading indicator of contract activity one to two months down the road. Emailed Ken Fears of SentriLock about data access and he provided much of information below.

Selectivity

  • What is the universe (e.g., population) that the data represents?

Data is not currently break the data down to the county leve, only at the REALTOR board level.  This is due to agents frequently not assigning the lockbox to the property address - therefore can only make general assumptions about the large geographic areas served by the local real estate association. Housing stock on the market where realtor uses sentri lock (can be as low as 20% in some areas).

Explanation:

Not available at the geographic level needed and unsure about coverage in the areas of interest. After contacting National Association of Realtors, found out that Northern Virginia Association of Realtors do not use SentriLock so no data is available there.
