Screening
- Is there data available for 2013?
- Can we access the data by August 15th? Request has been sent, waiting for response.
Does this dataset appear to meet our needs for the Census study? YES
Explanation:
We have started the data request process. We have submitted a project proposal and will need to sign an MOU. The staff in the Department indicated that there was a high possibility that we could get the data by August 15th, however, it depends on the MOU process. This is a very comprehensive datasets since it contains K-12 and partial college and workforce data all together. The only issue is that it does not have data on those going from college to workforce, just high school to workforce. K-12 data contains attendance statistics, diploma type, migrant status, grade, grad year, and various state level tests. There are no national level tests (i.e. SAT, ACT, or AP tests). This data set also contains if the student was in a Career and Tech Education program and also college data that has whether it was 2 or 4 year institutions, in-state/out-state, part-time full time, and major. Finally they also have “post-grad plans”, which entail what the student is going to be doing immediately after graduation, whether or not its college.

Purpose
- What is the purpose of the organization collecting the data?
“New Hampshire has a fantastic wealth of researchers and research organizations throughout our state. To collaborate with these researchers as well as researchers throughout the country, the Department of Education (DOE) has compiled information to assist in sharing data and collaborating on research projects. Thoughtful and methodical research can help improve the education for children through our state. This Web page will help researchers understand how they gain access to research data and partner with the Department of Education.”
- Who else uses the data? (make a note if they sell the data to companies)
Researchers and research organizations. They do not mention if they sell it other companies.
