Does this dataset appear to meet our needs for the Census study?NO

Explanation: The linking of student-level data between high school and college or workforce is not currently automated (i.e., the P-20 longitudinal education data system is not currently operational). Therefore, linking this data is manual and very time-consuming. Karl Pond, the data manager for the Department of Education, indicated that it could take an indefinite amount of time to get the data. Moreover, the data would not include any private colleges or link high school students with colleges they attend out-of-state. Currently, higher education data is only readily available at the school level.

The University of North Carolina System of Higher Learning represents 17 public higher education institutions in the state. They collect data on education outcomes in order to track and measure productivity, efficiency, and impact of their institutions.

The 17 public institutions that are part of the University of North Carolina System.

No, the longitudinal education data system is not yet operational. However, higher education can be linked to workforce on an aggregated school level.
